New York Strip Clubs: Hacksaw: Michael Vick’s fate left with court of public opinion

Roger Goodell’s arrival was so critical at a point the NFL had taken a turn down a dark alley. Shootings, drugs, stabbings, a record 93-off season arrests, DUIs, a murder and massive paternity suits were part of the final years of the Paul Tagliabue era. None so blind as those who refuse to see.
Goodell is now judge and jury, though his challenges still exist. Vick is back with enormous restrictions. The NFL must still deal with the horrors of the drunk-driving manslaughter case of Browns receiver Donte Stallworth; the alleged gun-toting antics of Plaxico Burress, formerly of the Giants; Pac Man Jones and strip bars; Travis Henry’s drug deals and former first-round pick Matt Jones, last seen allegedly cutting cocaine with a credit card. But this commissioner is proactive and holds players responsible.

New York Strip Clubs: Money-Laundering in Jersey? Fuhgeddaboudit!

… But if I try to use my cash to buy something major like a car or a house,” Smith says, “I will be reported to the federal government, which will want to know where all those wadded-up $5 bills came from. I need to sneak this cash into the banking system.”
Cassara says there are three stages of money-laundering: placement, layering and integration.
Placement is getting the money into some electronic form.
“I can’t just deposit it,” Smith says. “The banks have to report anything over $10,000. In the old days, I could have gotten around that by making large numbers of slightly smaller transactions.”
Criminals used to hire busloads of workers to put small sums of money into multiple banks. Those workers were called Smurfs, after the old cartoon featuring the little blue guys.
New banking software is getting better at exposing the smurfing trick. So criminals have to get a shell business to help launder their cash.
“The pizza parlor, the fast-food restaurants,” Cassara says.
“Bars, strip clubs, car washes,” Smith chimes in.

New York Adult Entertainment: NY Lt. Gov. battle back in state appeals court

An appeals court says it will rule shortly whether Richard Ravitch can still serve as New Yorks lieutenant governor during a legal fight over his appointment.
A hearing was held Thursday in Brooklyn on state Senate Republicans challenge to the appointment.
Democratic Gov. David Paterson tapped Ravitch earlier this month to break up a monthlong partisan power struggle in the Senate.
Republicans say the appointment violates the state constitution.
Patersons lawyers have said the state Public Officers Law allows him to fill some vacant posts until the next election.
New York has not had a lieutenant governor since Paterson took office. He became governor last year after Eliot Spitzer resigned in a prostitution scandal.

New York Adult Entertainment: Manny Ramirez is old news

There is no “I” in team, as Lance Armstrong noted via Twitter this week in a missive aimed at teammate and Tour de France winner Alberto Contador, but there is in acrimony. . . .
We’ve not seen the last of Brett Favre, who will be featured in an upcoming TV commercial poking fun at his now legendary indecisiveness as he waffles over a big-ticket purchase. . . .
The Minnesota Vikings probably won’t find it amusing. . . .
Was it a Bush Push — figuratively, not literally — that led to Reggie Bush’s split with Kim Kardashian? . . .
Kevin Provencher, a now-suspended New Hampshire Union-Leader sportswriter who was charged this week with running a prostitution ring, was a beat reporter who covered the Manchester Monarchs, the Kings’ American Hockey League affiliate. . . .

New York Adult Entertainment: Mary Jo’s ‘Thick Skull’

The media coverage after the May 1992 attempted murder, which left Buttafuoco deaf in one ear, and her face and throat partially paralyzed, focused on the relationship between Fisher and Joey Buttafuoco. Do I even need to elaborate on what happened afterwards? Fisher went to prison for seven years, and Joey became a guest of the state, albeit for a few months, for an offense involving what constitutes the age of consent.
Mrs. Buttafuoco stood publicly behind her husband for eight years after being shot, believing it was essential to keep their family together. They are the parents of a son, Paul, who is now 29, and a daughter, Jessica, 26.
The Buttafuoco children were entering eleventh grade and eighth grade, respectively, when their parents relocated to southern California in the late 1990s, not long after Joey Buttafuoco’s 1995 arrest for soliciting a prostitute. Mary Jo acknowledges in her memoir that her then-husband’s endless brushes with the law prompted the move but a change of scenery rarely alters someone’s behavior, as she quickly learned.

New York Adult Entertainment: NYSE Embraces A Ruinous Idea

Stick to Gambling and Prostitution
It would be bad enough if the NYSE viewed fast trading as just another profit center. Unfortunately, the Exchange sees it as its bread and butter. When people talk about the New York Stock Exchange, this is it, NYSE Euronext co-CIO Stanley Young told a reporter. This is our future. We suspect that Young will be proven wrong, and in a big way. For one, we see fast trading as so far-removed from the Exchanges core mission that it cannot possibly come to any good. Like Vito Corleone, the NYSE should stick to its brand of gambling and prostitution, passing up the hard-core drug of high-frequency executions. Moreover, we have our doubts that the trading is a growth industry. Until recently, trading in financial derivatives alone created a paper market aggregating into the hundreds of trillions of dollars.  How can this be when all the goods and services produced on the planet are valued at only $60 trillion or so? Clearly, this …

New York Adult Entertainment: Gov. Paterson’s lawyer says state needs lieutenant governer appointee

A lawyer for state Senate Republican leader Dean Skelos, who says the appointment is unconstitutional, said Ravitch should be kept from the office at least until the issue is resolved. State Appellate Division Justice Steven W. Fisher said the Brooklyn-based court would rule soon on Ravitch’s status.
Associated Press file photoGov. David Paterson, left, appointed Richard Ravitch as his lieutenant governor.
Although arguments Thursday centered on Ravitch, both sides touched on larger issues — whether Paterson had the authority to tap Ravitch as his second-in-command and what the state stands to gain or lose from the governor’s decision. Arguments on the legitimacy of the appointment itself are scheduled for Aug. 18.
The Democratic governor appointed Ravitch on July 8 to provide a potential tie-breaking vote and break up a monthlong Senate leadership logjam. The post had been vacant since March 2008, when Paterson became executive chief after Gov. Eliot Spitzer resigned in a prostitution scandal.

New York Strip Clubs: Gatti suicide verdict frees wife

A spokeswoman for the Pernambuco state court in the city of Recife confirmed that Judge Ildete Verissimo de Lima ordered the release of Rodrigues. The judge wrote in the ruling that police informed the court that “the detention of the suspect was no longer needed” as the investigation “excludes the possibility of murder.”
“The victim … committed suicide by hanging,” Lima’s ruling read.
Fabrizio said the family is getting a second autopsy of Gatti, who was laid to rest in a Montreal-area mausoleum July 20.
“We’re going to get to the bottom of it,” he said.
Fabrizio said the family is pleading for Canadian authorities to get involved to help them find out the truth.
He said officials have told them they can’t intervene unless asked to do so by Brazilian investigators, who have so far not done so.
Gatti met Rodrigues at a strip club in New Jersey where she worked as an exotic dancer. They moved back to Canada in 2007 and shortly thereafter their relationship degenerated, those close to them say.

New York Strip Clubs: Gatti Death Ruled Suicide; Wife Released

What exactly changed? It’s hard to say. The lead investigator, Paulo Alberes, could only confirm that police had determined the case was a suicide but offered no new details. The judge who ordered the release of Gatti’s wife, Ildete Verissimo de Lima, went as far as to write that the investigation “excludes the possibility of murder”.
Really? So this case went from murder as the only possible explanation to excluding even the possibility of murder?
Gatti’s wife, Amanda Rodrigues, believes the former champ may have been suicidal because he was afraid she was going to leave him. The couple engaged in a loud, public argument the night before Gatti was found dead.
It appears as if fight fans may never learn what really happened in Gatti’s hotel room in Porto de Galinhas, Brazil on July 11. If Amanda Rodrigues is truly innocent, then justice was done when she walked out of prison as a free woman. If not, then the 23-year-old former stripper just got away with murder.

New York Strip Clubs: Seal boy and the Blondes 3, another outlandish burlesque show at …

Seal Boy and the Blondes included performance by noted New York burlesque performers Julie Atlas Muz, Dirty Martini, Little Brooklyn, Bambi the Mermaid and Tigger. All Blonds but Tigger. Hosting the show from London was the captivating and amusing master of ceremonies Mat Fraser who goes by the title Seal Boy. For the final third set Our Lady J performed on the theaters’ old piano Chopin’s Nocturne in C minor while the rest of the cast nude dismantled the piano.
Some of the other skits performed that night were an all nude pie fight with a mutant, a recreation of the 40th anniversary of the moon landing with an American flag rising from the ass of Julie Atlas Muz as a space station lands on her butt cheeks and Bambi the mermaid doing a strip tease dressed as a giant lobster.
