New York Strip Clubs: Gyms Without Trapezes Now Unacceptable

The most basic form of exercise consists of picking up something heavy and carrying it around. The average American does this when walking, so standard gym workouts engender a profound sense of ennui. We are the richest nation on earth! We live in the nicer parts of Manhattan! Our attention span has been shortened to fractions of a second by the eroding influence of the internet! The world must cater to us, and our gym must have “creative” classes! It’s a trend!
This Equinox class, which uses modified circus equipment as part of a cardiovascular workout, is called Jukari Fit to Fly..it has offered classes like a Brazilian derrière-lift and Skinny Jeans Workout…hip-hop dance, a samurai-sword class and a spinning class to gospel music…AntiGravity Yoga Wings class…Aerobics With an Attitude (taught by a drag queen), Firefighter Workout and Kama Sutra Yoga…”Dodgeball was big one year,”…Pole Dancing, Strip Bar, Turning Tricks and Pole-Lates…Catwalk Confidence, in which a podiatrist teaches women how to walk properly in high heels, and Pilates Together, where mothers use their babies as weights…Craig Walker, a lawyer from Brooklyn, said he “had no idea” that the class [called "Knockout Brides"] was geared toward brides.

New York Strip Clubs: Top 10 Additional Distractions Omar Could Provide Metsfans

Despite his recent comments, the last thing Omar Minaya should apologize for is “distracting” us from this season. Here are some other suggested actions the Mets GM could take to lift the mood of the fanbase:
10. Lower Citifield ticket prices 20-40%, just like a sale at Macy’s, only the product is not useful or desirable
9 . Fire himself at 2 AM on next Western road trip (Arizona will do)
8. Give the first 10,000 fans a complementary Angel Berroa
7. Two words: More pressers!
6. No more call-ups with negative, sad, downer names, like Cancel, Dessens, or Takahashi.
5. Add Branch Rickey Terrace and Pee Wee Reese Pavilion to Citi’s Robinson Rotunda for remaining unsatisfied Brooklyn Dodger fans
4. Call up at least two more catchers; fans love backstops!
3. Make trade for Derek Jeter
2. Transform Citifield’s kiddie wiffleball court into America’s first ballpark strip club

New York Adult Entertainment: Gov’s Lawyer Says State Needs Lieutenant

A lawyer for state Senate Republican leader Dean Skelos, who says the appointment is unconstitutional, said Ravitch should be kept from the office at least until the issue is resolved.
State Appellate Division Justice Steven W. Fisher said the Brooklyn-based court would rule soon on Ravitchâs status.
Although arguments Thursday centered on Ravitch, both sides touched on larger issues â whether Paterson had the authority to tap Ravitch as his second-in-command and what the state stands to gain or lose from the governorâs decision. Arguments on the legitimacy of the appointment itself are scheduled for Aug. 18.
The Democratic governor appointed Ravitch on July 8 to provide a potential tie-breaking vote and break up a monthlong Senate leadership logjam. The post had been vacant since March 2008, when Paterson became executive chief after Gov. Eliot Spitzer resigned in a prostitution scandal.

New York Adult Entertainment: Ravitch Can Keep Post as Lt. Gov: Court

Another hearing is set for Aug. 18. That’s when the court with take up the issue of whether or not Gov. David Paterson, who appointed Ravitch, had the authority to select a deputy.

Earlier this month, Paterson, a Democratc, tapped Ravitch, a former head of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, as a way of breaking a monthlong leadership deadlock in the state Senate.

Shortly after Paterson named Ravitch, Sen. Pedro Espada, who sided with Republicans to stage the monthlong coup, rejoined the Democratic conference, restoring a 32-30 Democratic majority.
Republicans cried foul over the Ravitch appointment and today’s court decision vacates a July 22nd stay which had placed Ravitch’s appointment in limbo.
Paterson’s lawyers have said the state Public Officers Law allows him to fill some vacant posts until the next election – including the post lieutenant.

New York Adult Entertainment: On The Menu: How To Make It In NYC & Gawker’s Hamilton Nolan

First on the docket, yesterday’s Village Voice article about the optimism of just-graduated journalism students. “I think the best quote in that Village Voice story was the girl who had just graduated from j-school and she was like, ‘We’re optimistic, and maybe a little crazy,’” Hamilton said. “That pretty much sums up the qualities you have to have to go to j-school today.”
Hamilton also talked about his employer, Gawker, where many j-school grads probably hope to work in the future. “Gawker is probably one of the companies that employs more full-time bloggers than just about anybody,” he said. “But there is no reason why there can’t be more and more companies like that. Huffington Post is obviously big enough to do something like that, except that’s not really their business model.”
Also discussed: the New Hampshire newspaper editor who was accused of running a prostitution ring, the approaching deadline of Google’s settlement with authors and the backlash of “Julie & Julia.”

New York Adult Entertainment: Bridgeport Rescue Mission helps the downtrodden with ‘compassionate…

Indeed, Close is one of the mission’s biggest advocates. His hope is that the mission might even expand its reach into the Danbury area, not to supplant the services now provided but to expand and help coordinate the delivery so that more of the chronically and transient homeless can be served and moved off the streets.
New Milford Shelter Coalition president Patrick Farquharson said he is impressed with what he has learned about the mission and its success.
“This type of mission works,” Farquharson said.
Though rooted in Christian principles, the mission does not discriminate against those who don’t share its beliefs. Rather, mission guests witnesses God’s love in the “compassionate actions” of its staff and volunteers, some of whom were once homeless, Casey said.
The mission’s executive director, the Rev. Terry Wilcox, said its work started 16 years ago with the Rev. Jim Watson, who served sandwiches out of his station wagon to prostitutes and gangs in some of Bridgeport’s most dangerous areas.

New York Strip Clubs: Consumer Confidence

But how bad can things be, really, when we have not one, not two, but three cable TV series about bakers who make extremely complicated and expensive cakes? Ultimate Cake Off, in which “cake artists” compete against one another for a $10,000 prize, soon debuts on TLC, where it will give cake fans a second slice of cathode deliciousness alongside the network’s recent hit, Cake Boss. Meanwhile, the genre’s pioneer, Food Network’s Ace of Cakes, just started its latest season.
Remember the cakes of yesteryear? They came in two flavors: chocolate and yellow. With the exception of weddings and those occasions when strippers needed temporary shelter, nothing too fancy was required — a round, double-layer cake with some frosting and maybe a sloppily scribbled “Happy Birthday!” would suffice. In contrast, the cakes featured on Ace of Cakes and its brethren have moving parts. And their own internal plumbing systems. And they never look anything like a cake.

New York Strip Clubs: Knicks Too Big (and Slow) For Their Britches

Knicks Too Big (and Slow) For Their Britches
If Chris Duhon loses his starting PG gig, he has his career as a stripper to fall back on.
Do you know how you can tell a Knick fan?
Listen carefully. In quiet moments, the true Knick fan will start to quietly chant “2010″ in times of stress and hopelessness.
This has been an especially brutal summer for Knick fans as the team was totally unable to sign any free agents. In fact, all of the interested free agents seemed to be using the Knicks as leverage with the teams they truly wanted to sign with. Witness Jason Kidd turning some Knick interest into a huge re-signing with the Mavs. Witness Grant Hill magically turning a Knick offer into a Phoenix offer. Heck, even Andre Miller walked away from New York, choosing instead to try his luck in Portland. Most impressively of all, Steve Nash used the notion of a possible Knick offer to get an extension from the Suns.

New York Strip Clubs: Diplomat traded US visas for exotic dancers

Agawa’s gifts to O’Keefe included several rings and a $3,000 necklace made of gold, diamonds, rubies, and tanzanite. He also booked a $5,400 trip for his married friend to Las Vegas with strippers from Toronto’s Brass Rail Tavern, where O’Keefe was a regular.
O’Keefe told the judge he was depressed at the time of the crimes and added, “I knew these were inappropriate gifts and I never should have accepted them. To this day, I don’t know why.”
In return for the favours, O’Keefe granted fast-track US visas indiscriminately to Agawa’s Indian employees.
O’Keefe was sentenced to a year in prison and must return the four rings and necklace he received. He has been given a $5,000 fine to compensate for trips to New York and Las Vegas where he was accompanied by dancers and strippers.
