New York Adult Entertainment: Cinematic soul mates

Almodóvar’s films with Cruz have often found the sweet spot where the ornate trappings of melodrama eventually fall away to reveal deeper and more complicated emotions and motives. They’ve also offered Cruz some of her richest opportunities. In the 1997 thriller “Live Flesh,” she dominates the first 10 minutes, playing an impoverished prostitute in 1970 Madrid who gives birth on a city bus. Two years later, when he was casting “All About My Mother,” which would win the Oscar for best foreign-language film, Almodóvar called upon her again, this time to play a nun. Even as she falls into an affair with a transvestite and becomes HIV-positive, she remains the film’s sweetest, purest presence. “It surprised me when he told me what the role was,” she recalled. “But I thought, ‘Only Pedro could make this real, because he has no judgment against any of these characters.’ “

New York Adult Entertainment: Baseball fan finds arresting way to score tickets

A female baseball fan has been charged after allegedly offering her body in exchange for sought-after tickets to the World Series.
Susan Finkelstein (pictured right) from Philadelphia, was arrested after meeting an undercover policeman in a bar with the intention, it is claimed, of exchanging sex for tickets to a game between her beloved Phillies and the New York Yankees.
It followed an advert placed on the internet site Craigslist which her lawyer admits may have included a couple of double entendres but fell way short of prostitution.
William Brennan described his client as “a nice lady overcome with Phillies fever”. As to the ad he said: “If someone read into that posting a sexual connotation, that’s on them.”
Over a few beers she told the policeman that she needed two tickets, one for herself and one for her husband. Before prices were discussed she was arrested by several officers at a nearby table and charged.

New York Adult Entertainment: New York City Faces Dangerous Choice in General Election

Liu’s 2007 trip to Beijing was sponsored by six associations known to have close ties to the CCP. The high point of the trip for Liu was perhaps the presentation to him of “The World Is More Beautiful Because of You” award at a banquet sponsored by CCP-linked media companies. He was heralded as a rising political star.
The leveraging of community associations, which may serve some legitimate purposes and whose membership may sometimes be in the dark about the CCP’s role, is of the essence of United Front work. The Party seeks legitimate entities, or legitimate-seeming entities, that do its work for it.
One of the associations that helped sponsor Liu’s trip to China, however, is notorious among Western law enforcement agencies.
The Fukien American Associations is known to be a Triad-front organization with ties to human trafficking and organized prostitution. The organization raised more than $70,000 for his comptroller campaign. Liu often appears at their events.

New York Adult Entertainment: the Missing Candlesticks

Everyone has probably had enough of the Great “Tosca” Scandal at the Met last month—the last-minute firings and hirings, the tit-for-tat between directors old and new, the funny business with prostitutes and stunt jumpers, and, of course, the boos—but I’d like to append a few miscellaneous last thoughts. First, let the record show that although most of the reviews tended negative—mine included—Luc Bondy’s staging of the Puccini classic did have its advocates. Opera Chic, the mystery blogger of Milan, offered perhaps the most full-throated defense of Bondy’s approach. Tim Smith, of the Baltimore Sun, also had approving words. James Jorden, writing at his Parterre blog and in the New York Post, distanced himself both from the production and from its attackers. Zachary Woolfe, the New York Observer’s sharp new opera critic, performed a similar maneuver. The vigor of the discussion showed how much life resides in opera at the present time. No American arts audience is more hotly engaged.

New York Adult Entertainment: Baseball fan denies offering sex for Phillies tickets

Susan Finkelstein, 43, from Philadelphia, was arrested after meeting an undercover policeman in a suburban bar with the intention, it is claimed, of exchanging sex for admission to a finals game between her beloved Phillies and the New York Yankees.
It follows an advert placed on internet site Craigslist which her lawyer admits may have included a couple of double entendres but fell way short of prostitution.
William Brennan described his client as “a nice lady overcome with Phillies fever”.
As to the advert he said: “If someone read into that posting a sexual connotation, that’s on them. There’s no overt sexual reference.”
The online ad led to a rendezvous between Finkelstein and an undercover police officer. Over a few beers she told the man that she needed two tickets, one for herself and one for her husband.
Before prices were discussed she was arrested by several officers on a nearby table and subsequently charged with the misdemeanour charge of promoting prostitution.

New York Adult Entertainment: Attacks on Adams distract from issues in Harrison Twp.

6:06 PM Thursday, October 29, 2009
I feel it very disturbing to read an article in the Dayton Daily News concerning the integrity of Harrison Twp. trustee candidate Steve Adams. I have known Adams for more than 30 years and have always known him to be a man with high morals and outstanding integrity.
Some minor misstatements by Adams’ opponents suggest his opponents are afraid that his stand on adult entertainment establishments, which are a blight on our township, rings true. I agree with Adams and urge my fellow voters to look at the reason why his fellow candidates are attacking him on trivial matters like a license and where he used to live.
I urge all my fellow township voters to vote for Steve Adams Nov. 3 and begin to take back our community.

New York Strip Clubs: ‘Big Fan’ tackles the world of obsessive football fans

But Paul’s family really does think he’s kind of sick.
He lives with his mother, who’s a light sleeper and objects to his late-night calls, not to mention his life. Middle-aged, he has no job ambitions, no love life, no plans for the future except to root for his beloved Giants and especially his favorite player, all-pro linebacker Quantrell Bishop.
He can’t afford tickets to the Giants games. He and his best fan-pal Sal hook a television up to his car battery and watch the games from the parking lot of Giants Stadium in full red and blue regalia.
But Paul’s world is rocked when he and Sal spot Quantrell Bishop at a gas station, follow his vehicle to a strip club and end up meeting in a way that ends badly for everybody involved.

New York Strip Clubs: Job Creation, The Home, The Family

The Foundation for Job Creation, www.jobcreation.us, will not give up. It is for the people, it is for capitalism, it is for bringing innovation forward and creating jobs. What we need now is for Wall St. to direct its investment to American innovation, forego easy profits in emerging markets, and for financial engineers to design new instruments to make this happen. We need the government to untangle themselves from the greed and prepare our nation on the social issue front.
Hello hello, hello, has anyone seen the family? Has anyone checked to see if anyone is using drugs, thinking of suicide, doing their homework, working as a prostitute, dancing at a strip club, stealing a car, or beating someone ferociously as they walk home from school? Hello , hello, does anyone care about love and family? Hello we all want to work!
