New York Strip Clubs: Edition 2, Thursday 26th November

Hollywood does get her and doesn’t bother that Stewart’s awards to date have been voted for by Twilight-obsessed teens and tweens. Variety’s review of Adventureland mused “Stewart impresses again” while revered American film critic Roger Ebert noted with a certain gravitas: “Here is an actress ready to do important things.”
Certainly Stewart likes the choices afforded her by Twilight and is too smart to complain about any downside.
“It’s easier now to do things I really like, like an independent movie that nobody sees. Now it’ll be: ‘Oh, let’s go see Bella in this stripper movie!’ It’ll be crazy.” She laughs like she’s loving it. The “stripper movie” in question – Welcome to the Rileys, starring The Sopranos’ James Gandolfini – is one she terms the “most fruitful life-changing movie experience I’ve ever had. It was the hardest subject-matter. I play a very broken young girl working in a strip club.”

New York Escorts: Straight From The Sopranos: Former NJ Criminal Defense Attorney Charged With …

The Philadelphia Inquirer has the full story here.  Talking Points Memo covered it here.
The Inquirer:  Bergrin, a former federal prosecutor, [was]…arraigned [Monday] with seven codefendants in U.S. District Court in Newark.
All were named in a superseding indictment handed up earlier this month that expanded on charges originally filed when Bergrin was arrested in May…
Though the indictment includes one murder and one murder conspiracy, investigators contend that witnesses have linked Bergrin to at least three other homicides.
They also say Bergrin routinely bribed witnesses to win cases. And, they contend, when bribery wasn’t an option, he resorted to violence.
Bergrin once represented Jason Itzler, the “King of All Pimps” who ran the escort service New York Confidential.  Prosecutors say Bergrin took it over once Itzler was sent to jail.

New York Escorts: Feds: Former US Prosecutor Helped Rub Out Witnesses For Gangster Clients, Ran …

His client list has also included Queen Latifah, Lil’ Kim, and mobster Angelo Prisco, as well as a U.S. soldier accused of detainee abuse at Abu Ghraib, who Bergrin represented pro bono. Bergrin also repped the “King of All Pimps,” Jason Itzler, who ran the high-end New York escort service, New York Confidential, that proved to be Eliot Spitzer’s undoing. (Itzler called Ashley Dupre, “one of the best hookers ever.”) Indeed, prosecutors allege that Bergrin took over the management of the company after Itzler was jailed in 2005.
A retired Army Reserve major and the son of a New York City police officer, Bergrin, 53, was an Essex County prosecutor who later worked in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Newark, before starting a criminal defense practice in 1991.

In addition to the charges related to bribery, witness intimidation, and running the escort service, Bergrin also allegedly used a Newark restaurant, Isabella’s, as a front for drug dealing; and formed a real estate company that conducted phony mortgage deals.

New York Adult Entertainment: Former Record reporter to appear on CNN Wednesday night

Former Record reporter to appear on CNN Wednesday night
Posted: November 25, 2009 – 7:18 AM
NEW YORK – Former Times Herald-Record reporter Christine Young will appear on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” Wednesday night with the man she helped get released from prison after 20 years behind bars following his questionable murder conviction.
Young will appear at about 10:15 p.m. on the live program with Lebrew Jones, who was convicted in the brutal 1987 slaying of a Manhattan prostitute. Jones was released last week on parole, thanks say lawyers, to Young’s investigative report, “I Didn’t Do That Murder.” Legal experts say her reporting helped win Jones his freedom, which is almost unheard of for first-time parole applicants convicted of murder.
Young’s stories raised significant questions about the murder investigation and Jones’ prosecution, prompting the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office to re-open the case. Jones was convicted despite any physical evidence linking him to the crime, an absurd videotaped statement and police inconsistencies in the handling of the case.

New York Adult Entertainment: Equality can mean only ‘marriage’

I find two of the points made in the letter to have been based on erroneous information.
The first is that Walker wrote that civil unions (now permitted in New Jersey) make gays who wish to marry equal to heterosexuals who wish to marry. If that were so, we would not need two different instruments to effect this so-called equality. Americans have heard that people can be separate but equal before, and they knew they were being lied to.
Also, “one-man, one woman” monogamous marriage has not been the sole definition of marriage since the earliest times of humankind.  There are still cultures that practice polygamy today.
Polygamy has its roots in the Judeo-Christian tradition that P. Walker attempts to represent. Open the Old Testament sometime and see how many wives and prostitutes that some of the men had relations with.

New York Strip Clubs: Courtney Love visits strip club

November 25, 2009
Courtney Love took her Hole bandmates to a strip club.
The rocker – the widow of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain – went to New York’s famous Scores club earlier this week, but as the male musicians enjoyed the girls’ performances, Courtney reminisced about her own days as an erotic dancer.
A source told the New York Post newspaper: “Courtney brought in a group of guys who all looked like Keith Richards, some of whom were in her band. She was saying she used to be a stripper and appreciated what the girls do. Courtney left in a limousine with a female friend after 45 minutes, leaving the band to enjoy themselves.”
Courtney decided to reform Hole earlier this year.
The wild rocker ditched plans to release a solo album after deciding the tracks for the proposed record were more suited to her old band.

New York Strip Clubs: KID ROCK STILL BLAMES CREED STAR FOR SEX TAPE SHOCKER

The Creed singer shot home video footage of himself and Rock, real name Robert Ritchie, cavorting with strippers in the latter’s trailer backstage at a Metallica show – and immediately regretted keeping hold of the tape after it was stolen and released online three years ago.
He tells Spin.com that the blunder cost him his friendship with Kid Rock.
He explains, “What sucks about that is Bob and I were friends. He’d been over to my house and we jammed and hung out. We were in Tampa playing with Metallica, and I walked into his trailer and there were some strippers. It’s a time in his life and a time in my life that we’d like to put behind us and not publicise because we have children now, and they’re in school, and their friends read.
