LAS VEGAS — In one of the most unique marketing schemes ever featured in Las Vegas (dont forget, this is the city that brought you the stripper-mobile), hip-hop mogul Sean Diddy Combs is promoting a debit card giveaway to pay cab fare on New Years Eve.
The promotion, tied to Combs CIROC vodka brand, will have CIROC ambassadors handing out pre-paid $15 debit cards at New Years Eve hot spots and high-traffic intersections on the Las Vegas Strip.
A list of specific locations has not been announced.
In addition to the debit card giveaway, holiday revelers can text “DRIVESAFE” to 44264 from their wireless devices to receive taxi contact information in their area.

New York Adult Entertainment: NINE Downscales: Will Continue Theatrical Run on 890 Screens
The New York Times reports that The Weinstein Company will be shifting its plans for the new movie musical NINE, due to lukewarm reviews and an underwhelming box office performance. With only a $5.5 million gross after playing 1400 screens nationwide and debuting at #8 on the charts, the film will be pulled from many theaters and will continue its theatrical run in a limited number of venues.
Said David Glasser, an operations executive for The Weinstein Company, to Reuters: ”The movie is performing very well on about 890 key screens.”
NINE had a limited release on December 18th in New York and Los Angeles and a wide release on December 25th.
NINE follows the life of world famous film director Guido Contini (Day-Lewis) as he reaches a creative and personal crisis of epic proportion, while balancing the numerous women in his life including his wife Luisa (Marion Cotillard), his mistress Carla (Penelope Cruz), his film star muse Claudia (Nicole Kidman), his confidante and costume designer Lillie (Judi Dench), young American fashion journalist Stephanie (Kate Hudson), the prostitute Saraghina from his youth (Fergie), and his Mamma (Sophia Loren).

FREEHOLD — The defense attorney for a former Asbury Park man on trial for shooting and killing a drug-addicted prostitute outside a Neptune motel in 2006 took the reins of the trial’s direction after prosecutors rested their case Tuesday morning.
David Bass, 57, who was maintaining a Rochester, N.Y. address at the time of the murder, is accused of killing 19-year-old Jessica “Star” Shabazz after hours of smoking crack and drinking inside the motel room with her and another woman, Antoinella Monique Johnson, both of Asbury.
The evening started with Bass and Johnson meeting to buy drugs and booze before stopping off at a dollar store to buy lingerie for both of them to wear once they got to his room at the Crystal Inn on Route 35 in Neptune, but ended after Johnson left to retrieve more drugs and Shabazz brought in Asbury Park drug dealer James Sinclair to sell a cross-dressing Bass about $200 worth of crack cocaine, according to testimony during the trial from various witnesses.

After a disastrous debut as artistic adviser at Emanuel Ungaro (where the CEO who hired her resigned) La Lohan is going full fashion steam ahead with her 6126 leggings line.
The actress-slash-designer is expanding 6126 (named after Marilyn Monroe’s birth date) and announced via Twitter: “i need MORE followers i am so sad about this, how can i tell everyone about my 6126 full collection COMING OUT! all clothing.”
We’re forecasting that the line’s trademark stretchy leggings will soon be joined by Lycra tops and skintight dresses, to complete that off-duty stripper we all desperately desire.

New York Strip Clubs: Sean Bell’s fiancee says street-renaming an honor
NEW YORK (AP) – The fiancee of a man who was fatally gunned down by police says he will be remembered when people walk down the street named in his honor.
Nicole Paultre Bell told Mayor Michael Bloomberg that having the street named after her fiance, Sean Bell, is a small symbol of justice for her family.
She spoke at a bill-signing ceremony Monday. Bloomberg signed the bill that renames three blocks of a street in Queens after Bell.
It also renames other blocks and corners after more than 60 other people.
The City Council passed the bill last week.
Bell was killed outside a strip club in 2006 while leaving his bachelor party on what would have been his wedding day. A judge acquitted three police officers in 2008.
