New York Strip Clubs: The Long and Short New York Magazine’s Longreads

The final piece became the starting piece for yet another, longer read: Mr. Yang’s first, forthcoming book, which was bought by HarperCollins imprint Ecco Press in July.
“One of the things that’s amazing about the piece is its language,” Mr. Moss said, as he gave the audience a taste of its opening salvo.
“Let me summarize my feelings toward Asian values: Fuck filial piety. Fuck grade-grubbing. Fuck Ivy League mania. Fuck deference to authority. Fuck humility and hard work. Fuck harmonious relations. Fuck sacrificing for the future. Fuck earnest, striving, middle-class servility.”
Good luck getting language like that past editors at the Wall Street Journal!
Ms. Pressler’s Nieman Journalism Lab-lauded profile of Diane Passage, the ex-stripper wife of celebrity accountant and Ponzi schemer Kenneth Starr, came straight out of the tabloids.

New York Strip Clubs: Even as Arrests Increase, Human Trafficking Remains A Problem

… We’re making dent, and we’re making progress,” said James Hayes, ICE’s Special Agent in Charge of Investigations. “But there’s still a lot of work to do.”
Between 14,500 and 17,500 victims are trafficked into the United States each year, according to the Department of Justice. ICE has been reaching out to the public with information about trafficking, particularly through January, which is the Human Trafficking Awareness month.
Most trafficking victims are from impoverished backgrounds and come from Mexico, El Salvador or Guatemala, often by crossing the border illegally or from south-east Asia and Eastern Europe, using fraudulent documents.
Traffickers often entice their victims with the prospect of jobs, education or marriage in the United States.
“When they get here, they’re working 14 hours in a night club, 14 hours in a strip club, 14 hours in a massage parlor, or worse,” Hayes said.

New York Strip Clubs: 2 Chainz Rocks NYC Show, Rumored To Be Signing To Def Jam [Video]

At one point to begin his show, he merely mimicked himself on stage, not spitting one verse on the microphone, and just allowed the track to play. However, the crowd reacted to every word and movement, as if the rapper had just given you the hottest 16 bars of his life, it was actually amazing to see.
Once he started, you could tell he had genuine fans in the crowd. Every verse, complete with ad-libs, was guided by the jam-packed crowd. While the crowd remained “turnt-up” the entire show, the biggest records during his set were definitely when he performed “Riot,” “Spend It,” “Supa-Freak” and “Duffle Bag Boyz.”
The first two of the aforementioned records are off his latest mixtape, TRU REALigion, while the strip club anthem “Supa-Freak” can be found on Jeezy’s latest release, TM103. 2 Chainz’ performance of “Duffle Bag Boyz,” was the sign that his fans have been riding with him throughout his journey, as the record was followed as if it’d just been released.

New York Strip Clubs: Super Bowl 2012 Predictions: Strippers ‘All In’ With Giants

Super Bowl 2012 Predictions: Strippers ‘All In’ With Giants
Forget the fact that the New England Patriots are three-point favorites in the 2012 Super Bowl. In fact, forget all the other Super Bowl predictions you are going to hear and read this week. New York City strippers are picking the Giants, and that’s good enough for me.
The dancers from Rick’s Cabaret New York in midtown-Manhattan have spoken, and they love the Giants this Sunday
“I’ve met so many pro athletes here,” said one dancer. “The Giants are my favorites. They are always so nice to us. I am rooting for them and I think they will beat the Patriots.”
Another said: “Some of the Giants players were here last week. I won’t mention any names because we respect everyone’s privacy. What I can tell you is that they seemed cool, calm, and confident. And that’s a winning combination.”

New York Strip Clubs: Catholic Colleges Refuse to Pay for Whore Pills

Last summer, the Obama administration, on the advice of a panel of independent physicians, ruled that birth control constitutes “preventative care” and thus must be available to women without copay. There’s a narrow religious exemption in the law that would allow certain faith-based groups to avoid the provision, and earlier this month, the administration announced that they wouldn’t widen the loophole to include religious colleges and hospitals, which means that colleges may need to provide copay-free birth control to their female students.
And across the country, dozens of mitres rose on their own accord and began spinning in rage. Touchdown Jesus began to ugly-cry. Catholic schoolgirls prepared to skip biology en masse in order to go to a strip club with Alicia Silverstone in the middle of the day. Everyone was given no excuse but to begin fucking for pleasure, and with impunity. It’s a dangerous time to be a hymen.

When Amber Rose was 19, she looked in the mirror and did what most women her age have nightmares about: She took a razor to her scalp and shaved her head.
At the time, Amber was living in a housing project in The Bronx and supporting herself as a stripper, working the pole at Sue’s Rendezvous in Mount Vernon, in Westchester.
Her first reaction to running her hand over her bald scalp was deep regret.
“After I shaved, it I cried for a few days, until I realized it looked dope,” she recalled. “Sinead O’Connor was a bald-headed bad-ass, and I loved her.”

New York Strip Clubs: New Jersey court OKs exporting strip club patrons to Staten Island

Club XXXV is shown on Route 35 in Sayreville in a file photo. The New Jersey Supreme Court ruled that the availability of adult entertainment in other states can be used as part of an argument for keeping them out of New Jersey towns. (The Star-Ledger/Amanda Brown)
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A New Jersey state law prohibits a sexually oriented business from operating within 1,000 feet of homes, public parks or houses of worship. But it applies only if that adult type of free expression remains available in the local area.
Under an odd new legal ruling, it’s OK for N.J. towns near the Arthur Kill to seek to ban strip clubs because there are XXX-rated alternatives to be found right across the Kill van Kull and Arthur Kill in our borough.

New York Strip Clubs: Everything’s roses for ‘Gypsy’ revival at Drury Lane Oakbrook

Andrea Prestinario is beautifully understated and real as sweet, bookish Louise, the long-ignored daughter who surprisingly morphs into the happily glamorous Gypsy Rose Lee, and finally finds the steel to stand up to her mother. David Kortemeier captures the essence of Herbie, the meek but self-aware man who loves Mama Rose until she goes one step too far. Matthew Crowle stops the show as Tulsa, the boyish tap dancer. The kids who line up for a patriotic workout in Mama Rose’s endlessly recycled vaudeville act are priceless. And for sheer hilarity there are the three strippers played to vintage perfection by Susan Lubeck, Cheryl Avery and Frances Asher. They sing “You Gotta Have a Gimmick,” but as this electrifying production proves, what you really need is immense talent and absolute truth.

New York Strip Clubs: Tune Into the Soaps

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Johnny was stunned when Sonny said that mob boss Gino Soleito, not Anthony, is his real father — and that Claudia wasn’t Johnny’s sister, she was his mother. Johnny pulled a gun on Sonny (who got the paternity information from Luke), but didn’t pull the trigger. Johnny checked with the hospital and saw the proof of his paternity on his original birth certificate. Johnny confronted Anthony. Sam and Jason waited for the results of the paternity test on Sam’s baby. Ewen is concerned about Ethan and Cassandra’s relationship. Sonny is suspicious of Kate’s recent trips, but is unaware that she’s seeing a mystery man. Kate accepted a business offer from Jax, who left for Australia. Robin told Patrick that a doctor in Seattle had given her a third HIV protocol. Michael asked Sam to find out who killed Abby. Dante found Michael, who had a gun, standing over the deceased suspect in the stripper case.
