New York Strip Clubs: Fame, family and flour: Hoboken baker is the "Cake Boss"
Valastro is no stranger to being on television; he’s appeared on several Food Network challenges, even winning the $10,000 top prize in the Food Network’s “Battle of the Brides” wedding cake challenge. He’s made a birthday cake for Britney Spears, and an inauguration cake for newly elected Hoboken mayor Peter Cammarano that depicted Washington Street.
For Valastro, baking is in his blood. His father, who emigrated from Italy to Hoboken, started the bakery. Valastro’s grandfather and great-grandfather were both bread bakers back in Italy.
And for this Hoboken baker, family just happens to be good TV.
During one particular episode, Valastro’s mother, Mary, catches him making a cake for a bachelorette party. As he adds the finishing touch to the cake — a very impressive male stripper — Mama Valastro, the good Hoboken Catholic that she is, goes nuts.
