New York Strip Clubs: In Celebrity Brawl at Club, a Scene of Flying Bottles and Ice Cubes
By most accounts, the night started out pleasantly enough at Club W.i.P., an art-filled bottle service club that opened eight months ago on Vandam Street beneath the nightclub Greenhouse. A birthday party was under way for a manager of the singer Ne-Yo, and assorted luminaries were on hand: Ne-Yo, Mary J. Blige, the basketball player Tony Parker and Mr. Brown, who at some point ordered a bevy of Champagne bottles with sparklers attached.
“Everyone was having a good time, taking pictures, ordering bottles. Nobody’s having a problem,” said George Gomez, a music promoter who goes by the name Shampoo.
Mr. Brown, who in 2009 was arrested on charges that he assaulted his then-girlfriend, the singer Rihanna, was in the city for two arts events, a spokeswoman said, and an appearance on the “Today” show.
Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham and who is nearing the end of his Club Paradise tour, had performed Tuesday in New Jersey. According to MTV news, he and his tour mate, the rapper Meek Mill, headed to Sin City, a strip club in the Bronx late Wednesday, where a celebration was hosted by the label Meek Mill is on, Maybach Music Group.
