Lin Marie, aka Linda Bruno, pleaded guilty to two animal cruelty charges in July over her operation the defunct Tiger Ranch cat shelter in Frazer. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dropped almost 600 animal cruelty and other charges against Marie. Her bond was revoked in October, but she was released under house arrest in November while awaiting sentencing.
6. Abbie Jo Swogger sentenced
The bizarre and salacious saga of Abbie Jane Swogger, a stripper who worked for the Highlands School District as a teachers aide, came to end on May 26 when she was sentenced in Allegheny County Court to a three-to-six-year prison term and 36 years of probation. Swogger pleaded guilty to a slew of drug- and sex-related charges including having sex with a 15-year-old boy and hosting a drug-and-sex party with several teens in a New Kensington hotel in February 2008.
